Skin Types vs Skin Conditions

Your skin is the biggest organ of your body. Neglecting it would be a foolhardy move for which you have to pay dearly in the future. That is why you keep getting advises from your grandparents to take care of your skin.

They being the elderly generation has gone through the grind and know what works best and what not. So don’t be a fool and ignore them when they say that your skin is the first line of defense against harsh external elements.

Also, your skin and karma has a very strong bond in a sense that if you take it for granted today, it’ll come back and haunt you in the coming years in form of fine lines and wrinkles and trust me then no amount of facials or laser surgeries can give you back your supple and glowing skin. So, start caring for it from today rather than wait until your skin doesn’t feel or look the way it should.

The first step towards skin care regime is to understand the difference between skin types and skin conditions. Although the two terminologies are interlinked, there is a huge difference between them.

Firstly, skin type is predetermined by your genes. In layman’s term, it is the skin you are born with and the one that stays with you for life. But don’t worry! It’s not a death sentence. You may not have a perfect skin type but still with proper care and attention you can achieve a perfect balance of oil and moisture to look radiant and blemish-free.

There are three types of skin; normal, oily and dry. Some people may have more than one skin type which is known as combination skin. The amount of sebum production by sebaceous glands determines your skin type.

Unlike skin types, skin conditions are influenced by various internal and external factors. There are five skin conditions, all of which requires a daily dose of vitamin A to improve the elasticity of the skin.

Aging Skin, Dehydrated Skin, Sensitive Skin, Skin pigmentation, and Blemish-prone Skin all are different skin conditions that are influenced by your diet, exposure to extreme climatic conditions, stress levels and hormones.

But you can fight these conditions by going an extra mile and take some time out of your stressful routine to look after your skin. A little care today will help you reap gorgeous results in future!
